After receiving word that her father has passed away, social recluse Yoko gets offered a ride by her cousin to visit the wake in Aomori prefecture where she grew up. Reluctantly, Yoko embarks on a road trip of peculiar encounters and perilous situations, all the while chased by apparitions of the father she cut ties with 20 years ago. Lead actress KIKUCHI Rinko shines in this introspective journey exploring unresolved trauma and self-actualization.

KUMAKIRI Kazuyoshi 熊切和嘉 is a graduate of Osaka University of Arts. His graduation film, Banquet of the Beasts, had its international premiere at the 1998 Berlinale. Sketches of Kaitan City won the Lino Brocka Grand Prize and Best Actor award at the 12th Cinemanila International Film Festival as well as the Jury Prize at the 13th Deauville Asian Film Festival.
