After young actor MAEHARA Mizuki (played by the actual MAEHARA Mizuki) is dumped by his girlfriend, he gives himself a month to get his life on track and to win her back. We follow him through this time as he struggles with work, family, and potential new love interests. Will he still want her back at the end of month? Can a person really change in such a short period of time? The Hardness of Avocado is a beautifully sketched romantic drama about a subject that is rarely explored: the aftermath of the end of a relationship. But this is also a film about what it’s like to be a millennial in contemporary Japan.
Nadat de jonge acteur MAEHARA Mizuki (gespeeld door, jawel, MAEHARA Mizuki) gedumpt wordt door zijn vriendin, geeft hij zichzelf een maand om zijn leven op de rit te krijgen en haar vervolgens voor zich terug te winnen. JO Masaya (城真也) is a young filmmaker from Tokyo. His debut feature, The Hardness of Avocado (2019) won the Hikari TV Award at the 41st Pia Film Festival.
