It’s summer vacation, but two high-schoolers have been instructed to clean the (empty) swimming pool. As they sweep the pool, they initially discuss school life, love and makeup. But it isn’t long before their worries begin to overflow and their thoughts intersect. Based on an original play by the Tokushima City High School Drama Club, this charming coming-of-age drama is laced with deadpan comedy.

YAMASHITA Nobuhiro 山下敦弘 is a graduate of Osaka University of Arts. His graduation film, Hazy Life, earned him his first award at the 2000 Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival. He has been recognized internationally with works screened at Busan International Film Festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and Tokyo International Film Festival. His first popular success came with Linda Linda Linda in 2005. Since then he has built a substantial reputation for himself in Japanese cinema. YAMASHITA has been on a creative roll in the past year or two. CAMERA JAPAN 2024 will present not one but five (5!) of his films.
