The lives of a quirky family running a chicken farm are turned upside down when the mistress of the man of the house demands to stay with them. USHIMARU Ryo 牛丸亮 has been involved in film production for over 20 years as actor and production staff. In 2017 he made his first foray into directing with the short Smile, which screened at the Hamburg Japanese Film Festival. Qualia is his first feature film. The film is adapted from a play that USHIMARU wanted to turn into a film ever since seeing it on stage.
