Manically-depressed Yasuko is riddled with guilt because her boyfriend is the breadwinner of their household. She tries to find a job, but to no avail. Then her boyfriend’s manipulative ex turns up out of the blue and forces Yasuko to make a decision. An often funny, poetic and dark story about love and mental health.
De manisch-depressieve Yasuko voelt zich schuldig omdat haar vriend de kostwinner is in hun gezin. Ze probeert dan ook een baan te vinden, maar haar pogingen lopen op niets uit. Wanneer echter, totaal onverwachts, de manipulatieve ex van haar vriend opduikt, dwingt zij Yasuko tot het nemen van een beslissing. Een vaak grappig, poëtisch en ook donker verhaal over liefde en geestelijke gezondheid.
About the Director
SEKINE Kosai majored in philosophy at Sophia University in Tokyo. In 2005, he directed the short film Right Place. In 2006, he won the Young Directors Award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for Daughter. SEKINE is involved with NOddIN, a collective of filmmakers and artists who make activist art in Japan.
