Baian is a skilled acupuncturist and doctor who also uses his needles for a darker purpose. He works on the side as an assassin, but he only kills those he feels deserving of an early death. His only friend is a toothpick maker, who also secretly kills for money. When Baian is hired for a dodgy job, things go awry. And then a wanted samurai enters the fray. A stylishly shot and beautifully lit historical thriller based on the books of IKENAMI Shotaro. TOYOKAWA Etsushi stars in the title role, which in previous adaptations was interpreted by OGATA Ken and WATANABE Ken.

KAWAKE Shunsaku 河毛俊作 is a veteran of the television world. He launched his career in 1982 with the television series version of Sailor Suit and Machine Gun. Although he has directed many series and television movies, Baian the Assassin, M.D. is only his second film to be released in cinemas.
