On Friday 10 June, Makeup Room (2015) will screen at Shofukan in Rotterdam at 8 pm. A unique comedy by MORIKAWA Kei, the film features a finely nuanced performance by MORITA Aki as the makeup artist as well as some hilarious dialog. Director MORIKAWA, who worked in adult video for many years, taunts his own profession by creating a simpleton director and letting famous porn actresses play themselves. The result is a collection of hilarious conversations about the difficulty of doing masturbation scenes and the physical discomfort that comes with the job.
The film is subtitled in English. Tickets are 3 euros and sold at the door.
The film is screening on the opening day of Charlois Speciaal, a week of art events and opportunities to visit the studios of artists living and working south of the river. Shofukan is also hosting an exhibition of the work of KOINUMA Yoshiyuki.
Come early for the opening of the exhibition at 6 pm. Vegetarian Japanese curry will be served at 7 pm.
