Voor de voorstelling van "Ashes to Honey" zullen Hans VAN DER LUGT (voormalig correspondent in Japan voor NRC Handelsblad) en Ike TEULING (stralingsdeskundige bij Greenpeace) de huidige situatie in Japan omtrent kernenergie bespreken. Hoe had het zover kunnen komen, waarom wordt er zo mee omgegaan, wat dient er gedaan te worden om de crisis te bezweren en wat om een tweede "Fukushima" te voorkomen? (Film: Japans/Engels gesproken, Engels ondertiteld; debat in Nederlands).
Before the screening of "Ashes to Honey", Hans VAN DER LUGT (former correspondent for NRC in Japan) and Ike TEULING (radiation expert at Greenpeace) will discuss the current situation in Japan regarding nuclear power. How could things lead to this, why is the disaster being handled the way it is, and what needs to be done to solve the crisis and to prevent another "Fukushima"? Tom MES neemt je mee op een reis door de Japanse film en anime, voor een fascinerende blik op catastrofe en wedergeboorte, van Godzilla tot MIIKE Takashi.
How Japan will rebound from the earthquake, tsunami and the ongoing problems in Fukushima is still unclear. But what's certain is that the country has a long history of overcoming catastrophe, both natural and man-made. Join Tom MES on a voyage through Japanese film history, where we look at how films and anime have portrayed disaster, destruction and rebirth, from Godzilla to MIIKE Takashi.

In 2010 kocht Museum Boijmans van Beuningen het werk ’Infinity Mirror Room – Phalli’s Field’ aan van de Japanse kunstenaar KUSAMA Yayoi. Vanaf 13 september zal het werk permanent tentoongesteld worden in de entree van het museum. Ter ere van dit is er een voorstelling van de documentaire Near Equal: Kusama Yayoi – I Adore Myself en een lezing door Catrien SCHREUDER van Museum Boijmans van Beuningen over KUSAMA Yayoi en de ’Infinity Mirror Room’.
In 2010 Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen purchased the work 'Infinity Mirror Room - Phalli's Field' by the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. From 13 September the work will be permanently displayed in the museum's entrance area. Commemorating this event, there will be a screening of the documentary Near Equal: Kusama Yayoi - I Adore Myself' And a lecture by Catrien SCHREUDER of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen on Yayoi Kusama and her Infinity Mirror Room.
