Afro Samurai: Resurrection gaat verder waar het eerste deel (Camera Japan 2008) ophield. Afro heeft in de strijd om de felbegeerde nummer-banden, eerst de 'nummer 2' verslagen en vervolgens de 'nummer 1'. Daarmee is hij het doelwit geworden van alle samurai die het tot 'nummer 2' gemaakt hebben en uit zijn op de hoofdprijs. Als zijn oude vijanden zijn overleden vader opgraven en weer tot leven willen wekken, is het begin van een felle strijd daar en heeft ook Resurrection alles wat je verwacht: heftige gevechten, de hilarische stem van Samuel L. Jackson en opzwepende muziek van RZA.
Afro Samurai: Resurrection takes off where the first movie (Camera Japan 2008) ended. Afro has won the fierce battle for the most wanted 'Number 1' headband. Being the number one now, he is targeted by all those who obtained the 'Number 2' headband and are aiming to be next best of the world. When some of his old enemies dig up his father's dead body trying to resurrect it, a new battle is born and it has everything you may expect: brutal sword fights, an hilarious voice-over by Samuel L. Jackson and the exciting soundtrack by RZA.

About the creator: OKAZAKI 'Bob' Takashi has become well known through his dynamic, original illustrations. He created the character Afro Samurai while still a student at Tama Art University. He produced a limited edition Afro Samurai comics and figurines himself before it became an international success. The first Afro film was also directed by KIZAKI.

In deze futuristische anime zijn robots zijn reeds lang in gebruik, androids nog maar net. Ondanks dat de voorschriften duidelijk zijn en mensen hun androids net zo moeten behandelen als al hun huishoudelijke apparaten, bouwen sommige mensen toch een persoonlijke band op met hun android. Zij staan ondertussen bekend als de 'android-holics' en lijken een serieus maatschappelijk probleem te worden. Als de middelbare scholier Rikuo wat opvallende data in de gevens van zijn android Sammy vindt, brengt dit hem bij het Time of Eve café, dat een eigenaardige huisregel heeft: 'mensen en robots moeten gelijk behandeld worden'.
In this futuristic anime, robots have long been in practical use, and androids have just come into use. Influenced by the Robot Ethics Committee, public mores dictate that androids be treated like household appliances although some people empathize unnecessarily with them. Het leven van de overal gevreesde meesterdief Gasback wordt gered door een andere veelgezochte schurk, Vash the Stampede.
